“What Reinert describes in his work cannot be described in words at all, it must be felt. The nerve-shaking life vibrates, hunts, flickers past. In a fever. In hundreds of images of the most diverse kinds.”
(from: Heinz Schmid-Dimsch, Der Film 52/1919, Berlin 28.12.1919)
1919, in the confusion of the Munich Soviet Republic, Regisseur Robert Reinert made the silent film Nerven (Nerves), a unique document of its time that describes with a radical new expressiveness what war and hardships can cause people to do. The young Munich Jewish composer Richard Ruzicka has written new music to this monumental film – commissioned by and premiered by the Jewish Chamber Orchestra Munich in Flimmerkammer #5!
